Development and maintenance of a computer system supporting distance education in the field of occupational safety and ergonomics using the Internet

A complete information system supporting distance education in the field of occupational safety and ergonomics using the Internet was launched and implemented. It was made fully operational with the use of IBM-Lotus's LearningSpace v 5.01 software, which supports running distance education. It is compatible with an external relational database management system ORACLE 9i and the education sets in occupational safety that have been developed in CIOP-PIB. The system was installed, optimized in terms of effective compatibility of its individual elements and tested thoroughly. Multimedia education materials from two large education courses in occupational safety and ergonomics, developed at CIOP-PIB: at the academic and at the post-graduate levels, and specialist training in this field for engineering-technical staff were input.
