Certification of Persons' Competence in Occupational Safety and Health
Certification of persons' competence The Central Institute for Labour Protection – National Research Institute (CIOP-PIB) is accredited to certify competence of persons whose activities significantly influence the shaping of a safe working environment and education in occupational safety and health. Centre for Assessment and Development of OSH Competence, established within the structure of the Institute, operates as part of the national system of conformity assessment.
Centre for Assessment and Development of OSH Competence has been accredited by the Polish Centre for Accreditation since 2000. The Centre operates in compliance with standard PN-EN ISO/IEC 17024:2012 “Conformity assessment. General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons”.

The Centre grants competence certificates to:
Moreover, the Centre for Assessment and Development of OSH Competence confirms competence of educational bodies training the above-mentioned specialists.
Candidates submit applications for certification with documents confirming their competence. This is followed by
- preliminary assessment of the documents, registration
- of the application
- assessment of the content of the documents relevant
- to the scope of competence
- opinion of the Technical Committee for Personnel
- and Education Bodies
- decision whether a certificate is issued or not
- surveillance over the certificate

The rights of certificate holders
Certificate holders can
- announce that they have a competence certificate valid in a specified scope for a specified time
- refer to their certificates in publications, on business cards and when negotiating contracts relevant to the ctivities within the scope of their certificate
Certificates of the Central Institute for Labour Protection – National Research Institute (CIOP-PIB) enable certificate holders to indicate their competence to all interested parties, as their competence is confirmed by an independent body in an objective manner, in accordance with the requirements of the European Union.
