Summary
Adaptation of a methodology of measuring and assessing anti-electrostatic properties of heterogenous fabrics for protective clothing for work in areas at risk of an explosion
Project leader: Agnieszka Kurczewska Ph.D.
Project summary:
The basic aim of the task was to create possibilities of measurements and assessment criteria that would make it possible to conduct anti-electrostatic qualification of protective clothing for work in areas at risk of an explosion. A method was developed for testing electrostatic properties of clothing fabrics containing core conducting yarn, in accordance with the assumptions in the PN-EN 1149-3:2007 standard. Following the assumptions in that standard, a test stand was designed and constructed. An electric charge is generated on the tested fabric inductively at this stand. The task also consisted in: - measuring the shielding coefficient S and decay time t50 of an electric charge for textile fabrics, including heterogenous ones containing - conductive core yarn,- determining - on the basis of the above results - the uncertainty of the measurement and validating the developed measurement procedure,- developing a procedure for determining the shielding factor and the decay time of an electric charge for textile fabrics according to the PN-EN 1149-3:2007 standard, which will be included in the quality management system in CIOP-PIB's testing laboratories,- measuring anti-electrostatic properties of textiles and garments produced out of those textiles with other methods, regarding a comparison of the qualification of the fabrics for clothing for use in explosive atmosphere,- developing recommendations/assessment criteria for materials and the structure of garments to be worn in areas at risk of an explosion.
