Developing a test method and criteria for assessing shoes protecting against large quantities of molten metals

Streszczenie projektu:
The threats and conditions at hot workstations were analysed as part of this task. Criteria for assessing thermal properties of shoes and methods of determining the indicators defining those values were focused on. Methodology was developed for determining resistance of shoes to large quantities of molten metals according to the guidelines in draft standard EN ISE 20349:2007 and standard PN-EN ISO 9185:2007. Also developed was methodology for measuring surface shrinking of leather used to produce shoes that protect against large quantities of molten metals on the basis of the guidelines in draft standard EN ISE 20349:2007. Two test stands were prepared for determining thermal stability of leather materials for shoes in the metal industry, i.e., a test stand for determining resistance to heat of leather in a dry environment and a test stand for determining surface shrinking of shoes by immersing them in boiling water. Then a test stand was prepared for determining resistance of shoes to large quantities of molten metals in accordance with pr EN ISO 20349:2007. Testing procedures were prepared for conducting those test on the test stands that had been prepared.
